American Steel Systems LLC ("American Steel Systems", "we", "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect on americansteelsystems.com and when you buy from us, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information you give us
- Contact details: name, email address and phone number.
- Project details: your building design, the installation address or ZIP code, the state of your site, and your messages and notes.
- Payment details: your quote or order number and the amount. You type your card number into the secure GoDaddy Payments form; we only receive the result of the payment, the card brand and the last four digits.
- Acceptances: when you accept a quote or an order's terms, we record your name, the date and time, and your IP address as proof.
Information collected automatically
- Server logs: IP address, browser type, pages visited, and date and time, for security and to keep the site working.
- How you found us: the first page you visited, the website that referred you, campaign tags (UTM) and an ad click ID if you came from an ad. It is kept in our own cookie for 90 days and attached to your request if you contact us.
- Necessary cookies: a session cookie (keeps your language and your forms) and a security cookie that protects forms against forged submissions.
- Your 3D design: the builder saves your latest design in your own browser's storage so you do not lose it. It does not leave your device until you send it to us.
Some pages include services from other companies: the map on our Contact page (Google Maps) and the card form on payment pages (GoDaddy Payments, which uses Google reCAPTCHA to stop fraud). Those services may set their own cookies under their own privacy policies.
How we use your information
- To answer your questions and prepare estimates and quotes.
- To process payments, send receipts and apply each payment to the right project.
- To review your site and your county's requirements, and to fabricate, deliver and install your building.
- To handle warranty claims and customer service.
- To prevent fraud, protect the website and comply with the law, including tax and accounting records.
- To learn which ads and pages bring us customers, and improve the website.
Who we share it with
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising. We share it only:
- With service providers that work for us, and only what they need: GoDaddy Payments (payments), our email and website hosting providers, and the manufacturers, engineers and carriers involved in your building.
- With a lender, only at your request. If you apply for financing with HFS Financial, you apply directly on their website and their privacy policy applies.
- When the law requires it, to respond to legal process, or to protect the rights, safety or property of our customers or our company.
- If the company is sold or merged, with the buyer, who must honor this policy.
Text messages, calls and email
If you give us your phone number, we may call or text you about your request, quote, order and installation. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to stop texts or HELP for help, or call us at (866) 456-1158. We do not share your phone number or your consent to receive texts with third parties for marketing purposes. You can ask us at any time not to call or email you.
How long we keep it
We keep project and payment records for as long as your building is under warranty (up to 20 years) and as long as tax and accounting laws require. Requests that do not become a project are kept while they are useful to answer and follow up with you; you can ask us to delete them at any time.
How we protect it
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), a PCI DSS compliant payment processor, individual staff accounts with role-based access, and encrypted credentials. No system is perfect, but we work to protect your information. Details on our Security & Compliance page. If a security breach affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by the North Carolina Identity Theft Protection Act and the laws of your state.
Your rights and choices
- Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct information that is wrong.
- Ask us to delete your information, except what the law requires us to keep (for example, payment and warranty records).
- Stop emails, texts or calls at any time.
Write to us at david@americansteelsystems.com or call (866) 456-1158. We verify your identity before we share or delete data, and we answer within 45 days. These rights apply to all our customers, whatever state they live in, and we will not treat you differently for using them. If you live in a state with a privacy law (for example, Virginia or Tennessee), you can appeal our answer by writing to us; if you disagree with the result of the appeal, you can contact your state's attorney general.
Browser privacy signals
We do not sell your information or track you across other websites for advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of. We treat signals such as Global Privacy Control as a request not to, and our website works the same with or without a "Do Not Track" signal.
Children
This website is for adults buying buildings. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child sent us information, tell us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here with its date. If the change is important, we will say so on the website before it takes effect.
