Install day goes fast when the site is ready. Here is what "ready" means and how to choose between ground, gravel and concrete.
Level, clear and accessible
Three conditions for any building: the site must be level (very little slope across the whole footprint), clear of trees, branches, debris and overhead lines, and accessible for a delivery truck and the installation crew. If the spot is hard to reach, tell us early so we can plan the delivery.
Ground
The simplest option for carports and open covers. The building is anchored with long rebar anchors or auger-style anchors. It needs firm, well-leveled ground; on very soft or poorly drained soil, gravel is the better choice.
Gravel pad
A compacted gravel pad improves drainage, keeps the inside clean and makes leveling easier. It is a great choice for carports, RV covers and storage buildings. The pad should extend a foot or two beyond the building footprint.
Concrete slab
The usual choice for enclosed garages, workshops and commercial buildings. It gives you a clean floor, the strongest anchoring and a base for walk-in and roll-up doors. The slab needs to be cured before installation and its dimensions must match the building; we give you the exact measurements when you confirm your design.
What to prepare before install day
- Confirm the permit, if one applies.
- Mark the location and check setbacks from property lines.
- Move vehicles, materials and anything else out of the footprint and the working space around it.
- Locate underground lines (water, gas, electric) before anchoring.
- Keep the access route open for the truck.
We guide you through it
Site preparation is quoted separately and is often done by a local contractor; we tell you what your building needs and review the site before scheduling. The result: installation by our own crew in one continuous job, backed by a 1-year workmanship warranty.
